Mario, Harry and their friends at Biodinami were enthusiasts of the Greek organic food market before they set their sights on salt.

Their country, after all, is the cradle of the Mediterranean Diet, mainly because of the variety and purity of its herbs.
To start with blending the aromas of Greek herbs with a prime sea salt harvested at the salinas of Messolonghi -a natural habitat of wild life in western Greece- seemed only natural.

Tell us a little about your company. When and how you started your business? How you decide to deal with the food?
Our company was founded in 2008. We started to promote superior quality products in health food stores and organic products. Products with excellent organoleptic features, well presented and value-respecting consumer.
Our preoccupation with food is a family affair. We reserve stores and health food production workshop in Thessaloniki since 1982!

We would like to know about the raw materials used. Where to you purchase? By what criteria to select and how important to you?
Our main raw material is the qualitative Greek salt, Messolonghi salt. In a market dominated processed salts of supermarket, Messolonghi salt won the trust of consumers. It is the first 100% Greek salt released in the market and has the “salinity” missing from common salt, without chemical additives.
The remaining raw materials are chosen in the light of the excellent organoleptic properties (taste, aroma, color), certified biological cultivation (herbs, sesame) or traditional processing (smoked paprika)
Our suppliers, besides the excellent final product, they should love what they produce and nurture respect for the consumer who chooses to consume their products.
Also take care that the raw materials are Greek origin. We are one of the few companies that use Greek organic sesame (Evros) on our products!

We would like to tell us what makes your products separately and show us some that stand out.
The separate our product is that it is innovative, not copying any recipe already on the market. I will single out the only Greek smoked salt with natural smoking with beech (highest award of three stars in European competition) salt with oregano Crete and sesame Evros (Platinum distinction in Olymp awards competition) and the multipack “the salt trip” 4 of the best Greek salts (awarded with distinctions)

What features do you think are the Greek products in the international market?
In a global market, the opportunities for Greek products is huge. Our effort should be to produce a permanent basis, superior quality products, we make sure to advertise the image of our country with the products we offer and to serve our partners abroad with professionalism and consistency. The new generation of entrepreneurs is now understood that we have to work hard in all areas of business cooperation in order to meet the high demands of the global market.

What are the main challenges to be faced by a Greek producer today? And on the other, what is it you love about your job?

The main challenge is to address the “evil competition”. Products manufactured in warehouses, without proper licenses and certifications or with raw materials products of dubious origin and quality on the market. Our response is to ensure the quality of our products by participating in food assessment competitions. The biodynamic has a total of seven awards distract and two distinctions at a time! And we go on…

What we love most is the daily contact with flavors, colors, aromas that create products that stand out. The feeling that the creation of new flavors has no bounds with energy and fills our appetite for growth. We want to help our country get out of the difficult situation, increasing our production and exports.
