1) RISOTTO ESCARGOTS WITH MUSHROOMS (ANCIENT CORINTH)
Only the best ingredients have been used to make this risotto mix, and the snails of the company Fereikos come from outdoor farms in full biological cycle. In terms of nutritional value, snails provide us with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and other antioxidants. Therefore, you can enjoy a unique and tasteful meal in the most easy way! All you have to do is boil the mix for 15 minutes, season it with salt and pepper, add butter and cheese of your liking and it is ready!
2) LOUKOUMI WITH KUMQUAT FLAVOR (CORFU)
Take a little bit of China, a touch of Turkey and Britain and lots of Greece, and you have a unique version of the loukoumi, this very well known and loved sweet. Kumquats, or “golden oranges” come from China. They were imported at the -then British- island of Corfu by a British botanist named Merlin. Today, the Greek company Lazaris from Corfu makes delicious kumquat flavoured loukoumi (otherwise known as Turkish delight). Enjoy!
3) MIXED MOUNTAIN TEA (CRETE)
This tea is a special blend of herbs of the Cretan land and it is very tasteful and aromatic. It can be enjoyed either hot or cold, with sugar, honey, lemon or plain. It has antiseptic properties and soothes the throat. It has a beneficial effect on colds and inflammations of the upper respiratory tract and it is antioxidant. It is also good for the blood circulation thanks to the iron it contains. Last but not least, you will find it very strengthening!
4) HANDMADE PINK LEMONADE WITH HIBISCUS, GINGER ROOT AND AGAVE (ATHENS)
A great pink lemonade without sugar or artificial additives. Both hibiscus and ginger have antioxidant effects and provide protection against a number of diseases, from common cold to hypertension, arthritis and liver conditions. Instead of sugar it contains agave, a natural sweetener which does not increase the levels of sugar in the blood. All this, together with its great taste, will make you love this wonderful lemonade!
5) IMAM BAYILDI SPREAD (ATHENS)
Imam bayildi means “the imam fainted”, which is supposedly what happened to an imam when he tasted this dish, because he found it so exquisite. It is made with aubergines and a strong tasting tomato sauce, and in Greece it is served with feta cheese. Here it is presented as a spread for you to enjoy as a snack or with your meat or even rice, in vegetarian dishes. Aubergines have a very strong antioxidant effect and dietary fibres. There are many people who don’t like their texture, but even they will love it in this “camouflaged” version!
