CHESTNUT SPOON-SWEET

Made with fresh whole fruit ripened under the Greek sun, spoon sweets are served by the… spoonful on a small delicate glass plate and offered to visitors as a way of welcoming them into our homes. Each spoon sweet reflects the season when the fruit was at its peak, plump and juicy with its freshness and aroma preserved in pristine condition. Boiled slowly and for a short period of time, they preserve part of their vitamins and fibers and they are a healthy choice for sweet cravings! Try them plain with a tall glass of ice water or just simply add some to your greek style yogurt.

BEETROOT RELISH

With beetroot as the main ingredient –which is rich in vitamins, fibers and antioxidants- this is a creative combination of tastes and a delicious suggestion for your main plates, or to boost the taste of your salads and starters. This beetroot relish is perfect for all kinds of pickled fish, smoked salmon, and also wonderful in a salad with anchovies, mushrooms, walnuts and rocket lettuce.

MALOTIRA

Malotira is also known in Greece as mountain tea, even though it has no relation to tea itself. It is made of the leaves and flowers of the plant Sideritis (also known as ironwort). The name in Greek also means iron and in ancient Greece it was used as a cure for traumas from iron objects. Young soldiers used to drink it before battles, to increase their strength. The word malotira is of Italian origin, from the period where Crete was under Venetian rule. It means to extract a bad thing, which shows how well known this plant has been for its valuable properties.

THYME INFUSED OLIVE OIL

Naturally flavored olive oil with Thyme. A perfect combination that is ideal for salads, pies, pizza, spaghetti. Among other things, thyme is a good diuretic, bactericidal and expectorant. In Ancient Greece it was used in baths, it was burnt as an incense in temples and as a therapy for various conditions. It was said that thyme sprouted from a tear shed from Helen of Troy and that warriors would drink it in order to gain strength before battles. Indeed a truly exceptional olive!
